California makes 85% of all US wine. The US accounts for 12% of the world’s wine production. The US leads the world in wine consumption. In January 2019, there were 10,043 wineries in the US. Grapes are the highest-value fruit crop in the US. Grape production is valued at over $6.5 billion. 36% of the value of non-citrus fruit grown in the US is from grapes. The US has nearly one million acres of grape-bearing land (wine, table grapes, and raisins). Over 7,500,000 tons of grapes were produced in the US in 2018.
