The giant panda, also known as the panda bear, is a bear species native to China. It is characterized by its bold black-and-white coat and rotund body. The name "giant panda" is sometimes used to distinguish it from the red panda, a neighboring musteloid. The panda's diet consists of almost entirely bamboo, eating from 26 to 84 pounds per day. But they do branch out, with about 1% of their diet comprising other plants and even meat.
