To "call it a day" means to stop what you are doing because you do not want to do anymore or think you have done enough. For example: "I'm getting a bit tired now - let's call it a day"; "After 14 years of living and working in this country, she thinks it's time to call it a day," or "You've been studying hard – I think you should call it a day."
