The 615 species of Coniferous trees are made up of 8 main families and several subfamilies. They are Pine, Cypress, Cedar, Juniper, Spruce, Firs, Yew, Redwood, Douglas Firs, Larches, Hemlocks, and Kauri. The Pine family, Pinaceae, is the largest, with over 200 species, and is known for its pine cones. It is also used to pose as Christmas trees along with the equally iconically-shaped and even more popular spruces and firs.
